The archival recordings from 1966 to 1999 have all been
restored from tapes that have been subject to degradation
from age and are live and studio takes from a variety
of different settings and equipment.  The process of
restoring them to a state of reasonable listening pleasure
was a long and arduous one that involved a great deal
of experimentation leading to the use of specific tools
that would yield the desired results.  In some cases
the tapes were far too gone to bring back any fidelity,
and in others the fidelity was barely there to begin
with.  In the end it was necessary to settle for less than
pristine results in many of these selections.  In some
the results of the technology applied was truly amazing.
The restorations were almost exclusively accomplished
through the use of Creamware’s Osiris noise reduction
and enhancement software coupled with the TripleDat
recording system which is an IBMPC based digital
processing software and hardware ensemble that still
remains one of the remarkable tools for sound production.
Some of the pieces suffer significantly when compressed
into Mp3 format and lose a good deal of the benefits
of the processing that is evident on the eleven CD’s that
comprise the LifeWorks Project.  It is hoped that
these works are enjoyed in the spirit they were restored,
as one artist’s body of work preserved for years to come.
